So we'll said. Love it all and something you will one day share with that little peanut and laugh about the challenges and joys of parenthood 🥰

Dude, this is so normal. The motto of the parent of a 2 month old baby is "At least I'm lying down with my eyes closed." It changes so fast. Listen to Darius Rucker "It won't be this way for long." Read Nighttime Parenting by Dr. Sears. You are going to blink your eyes and she'll be rolling her eyes at you for wanting a hug as you drop her off for the first day of 8th grade.

I remember when my kids were tiny and they'd be crying in the supermarket or fighting at the playground and some little old lady would come up to me, clutch my arm, and say, "Cherish these times." I seriously would want to punch her in the face, or at least say, "You f-ing cherish these times, lady, because I'm going nuts." But now I AM that old lady. You will not believe how fast the time goes.

I love the story and the fact that you’re keeping it to remember. Sometime she just got let go and go with the chaos and don’t worry about the destination.

In just one month mine will be 20 and 24 years old. I never get the visual memories of their first years and the feelings that must have been there to come together at the same time, but I can say that my kids never stopped giving me all the good vibes at every age, and that my brain works pretty well all on its own to erase the sucky bits, of which there were (and are) many. But I will never forget my neighbor coming to hold my youngest for the first time, whereupon he promptly vomited blood-tinged breast milk all over her, and she understandly panicked. "Don't worry," I said. "That's my blood."

Loved the writing and the honesty of this peace.

I will only add that in my experience going through the challenges (and joys) of caring for an infant nourishes a lot of compassion for our own parents and all parents. Sending many blessings to you and Katherine.

Love this so much. We still laugh about the time my partner was lying on the floor holding our baby daughter over him airplane style and she spit up right in his face. It was totally gross but classic. Baby girl is 6 now and already giving us teenager vibes. These are the fastest slowest years… I’m glad you can take a moment to reflect. So happy for your family, Jonathan!
